Jamie McKean and Kendall Pfeifer obtain defense verdict in Federal Court
Jamie McKean and Kendall Pfeifer recently completed a multi-day uninsured motorist case in the middle District of Florida. The plaintiff was rear-ended and brought suit against the uninsured motorist carrier for damages related to multiple orthopedic surgeries. Liability was not contested and the plaintiff had incurred nearly $800,000 in medical expenses. Following deliberation, a federal jury unanimously awarded $8200 and no permanency to the plaintiff. Our client was entitled to $110,000 in setoffs against the verdict. Our client had expired $50,000 proposal for settlement and, accordingly, the plaintiff may be obligated to pay the attorneys fees and costs of the uninsured motorist carrier.
